If you are accepted into the National team, your tuition is fully paid for by ArtsConnex in the form of a scholarship. The only costs associated with the National team are: cost of your music (around $40-50) and travel to-and-from Calgary for our rehearsal weekends (2-3 a year). ArtsConnex pays for all your accommodations, meals, and travel when you are in Calgary for the rehearsal weekends.
If you are accepted into the Calgary team, the cost of being in Entract is only $25 a month. This helps cover the cost of rehearsal venues, supplies, and music licenses. ArtsConnex pays for the staff, camps, and performance arrangements. If you are enrolled in another Calgary-area choir or approved vocal ensemble, your tuition is only $15/month. (excludes high school choirs). All we ask for is a letter of recommendation from your director. ArtsConnex is Canada's national arts network. For this reason, we want to reward you for supporting the arts in your community!
when does entract rehearse?
The Calgary Team rehearses every Thursday evening from 6:30pm to 10:00pm in our northwest or downtown rehearsal spaces.
The National Team is expected to learn all the material on their own. We come together 2-3 times a year for an entire weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) to put material together and put our shows together.
are there any fundraising commitments or opportunities?
Although we don't believe in making fundraising mandatory... When we have fundraising events, or community engagement activities, we ask that you do your best to participate as you are able. If you are in another choir, we know that they may ask you to fund-raise. If this is the case, our stance is that you participate and support your other choir's fundraising activities over ours. The kind of fundraising we do at Entract, are to help you pay-off your own tuition, or help us spread the ArtsConnex brand across Canada. That's it! No bingos, casinos or big campaigns!
